Praxis phi-ring mark

Praxis

Theory, enacted.

One continuous line resolving into phi

An independent engineering practice for companies whose systems have to hold — infrastructure, security controls, and compliance programs built, operated, and maintained.

The practice

Three service lines, one continuous whole

Poiesis — the making

Poiesis

We build

Cloud infrastructure, applications, integrations, and the control environments that govern them — stood up from first principles. Scoped as project engagements.

Praxis — the doing

Praxis

We run

Operations, monitoring and alerting, evidence cadence, and audit-window support, held on a monthly retainer. Compliance is a practice, not a document — someone has to live it.

Phronesis — practical judgment

Phronesis

We advise

Right-sizing the program to the company — what to build, what to consolidate, which risks to accept, and what your auditor will actually ask.

How the work goes

A phased practice, not a one-time project

Poiesis to Praxis to Phronesis
  1. 01

    Assess

Map what exists — architecture, controls, evidence, and the gaps between them — and establish what the business actually has to prove.

  2. 02

    Build

Stand up the missing pieces: infrastructure, control environments, monitoring, and documentation that holds under examination.

  3. 03

    Operate

Controls only count when they run. Evidence collected on cadence, alerts triaged, the audit window supported rather than survived.

  4. 04

    Mature

Right-size continuously — consolidate what overlaps, retire what no longer earns its place, and raise the bar where risk warrants it.

The phases are not a straight line. Assessment recurs; building rarely stops. The work is a practice, sustained — which is the part most programs skip.

On the name

Praxis

Praxis (πρᾶξις) is Aristotle's word for theory enacted — the point where knowing turns into doing. In the Nicomachean Ethics he sets it between poiesis, the making whose end is a finished thing, and phronesis, the practical judgment that acts when the manual runs out.

Most firms sell the outer terms. They make deliverables, or they dispense advice. This practice takes its name from the middle one, because in infrastructure and compliance the rare thing is neither the diagram nor the recommendation. It is the doing, sustained past the point where projects usually stop.

A note for the etymologically inclined: control and cyber share a Greek root. Kybernetes, the helmsman who steers the ship, became the Latin gubernator and the English govern; it named Wiener's cybernetics; and it named Kubernetes. The compliance framework and the container orchestrator descend from the same person — the one steering.
